Glut of Homes Puts Pressure on Prices

The number of homes on the market increased 5% in May, adding to a glut in many parts of the country and threatening to push prices lower as the housing market keeps tumbling. The National Association of Realtors reported that the number of previously occupied houses and condominiums listed for sale rose to a total of 4.43 million last  The Wall Street Journal

PRE-WAR PROPERTY HITS BIG

THE New York Magazine Building, which won't be the New York Magazine Building for long, has just sold for slightly more than $313 million. The deal is worth about $660 a square foot - a remarkable number for a prewar property, even in a booming market. The building has a block- front of Madison Avenue store frontage as well. Another bonus for Westbrook is the rooftop sign that now reads "New York," but which can be adapted for another tenant willing to pay a premium for it. NY Post
